8:50 – Tarry Singh – How to apply breakthrough research in AI to advance your business

Advancements in Deep Learning seem almost unstoppable and research is the only way to make true improvements. Industries and corporate enterprises have always been the last to adopt new technologies and they are normally too late. Also the expansion and explosion of new types of data and taxonomies can confuse traditional enterprises.

Having worked in at the intersection of academia and business, Tarry realised that this is a problem that will only exacerbate as new terminologies in machine- and deep learning continue to overwhelm both experienced as well novices alike.

So how to solve this problem? How to understand which research trend to follow and which not to? How to apply AI such that not much time or investments are lost as is the case with almost 80% enterprises today?

On the research side, Tarry and his team in deepkapha.ai are working relentlessly to write meaningful research pertaining to AI trends that are meaningful and applicable to AI. Architectures such as Capsule Networks, automated switching functions, activation functions and learning rates.

Here in this lecture, we will briefly touch how research is transforming the field of AI and finally reveal two papers namely, Neuroscience and impact of Deep Learning and ARiA, a novel new NN activation function that has already proven its dominance over ReLU and Sigmoid.

On the applied AI side, Tarry will explain how their new function is already being used in practical industries such as healthcare, manufacturing and more. Tarry with his team will be soon releasing their first toolkit into open sources so AI and deep learning enthusiasts can play and apply this in their own custom-built neural network infrastructures.

Tarry Singh

Tarry is an industry-acknowledged Deep Learning Executive with over 17 years of experience setting up data analytics divisions for F500 multinationals. He is currently a mentor at Courser’a DeepLearning Specialization working with Andrew Ng, the world’s leading figure in Artificial Intelligence. Expected learners to be trained is around 1.5 million already by end 2018 via a MOOC program. This training was ranked #2 in the world out of 8000 trainings, according to the Inc. Magazine.

He is also an AI and Neuroscience Researcher who works and seeks guidance from world’s leading figures in deep learning industry such as Dr. Naftali Tishby, Geoff Hinton ands also Aalto University, to name a few whose advice he is seeking for research and his upcoming book on Deep Learning & AI.

Tarry works closely with Google’s Core TensorFlow team lead in San Francisco to deliver TensorFlow tutorials for various enterprises across the globe.

He is currently also writing a practical AI / Deep Learning book which is solely aimed to bridge the gap between business and technology by introducing meaningful projects so enterprises can finally move beyond grappling with the currently exploding world of Deep Learning and AI.

Ohjelma

8:20 – Sisään klo 8:20 alkaen – aamiaistarjoilu

8:55 – Lyhyesti Tervetuloa! – Petri Hakanen, TDWI Finlandin puheenjohtaja

9:00 – Dr. Barry Devlin, Author & Speaker, Analyst & Consultant, http://www.9sight.com/

Diving into the Data Lake

Data Lakes are among the hottest topics of the big data / business intelligence landscape today. The 2016 big data survey by 9sight and EMA found an adoption rate of over 66% among respondents. Strangely, the definition of what actually constitutes a data lake still remains vague and unsatisfactory despite its first introduction as far back as 2010. In this session Barry explores the reality of data lakes from the perspective of architecture, implementation and technology to provide a practical view of what can and should be done about them.

From BI to AI and IoT

With the enormous growth of big data, especially from Internet of Things (IoT) devices, now is the time to start planning for and building skills and infrastructure in artificial intelligence (AI) and IoT to take advantage of new technologies in support of decision making in your business. Under a range of names — deep learning, autonomous vehicles, cognitive computing, robotics, algorithms and more — AI and IoT together offer both the threat and the promise of revolutionising all aspects of IT, business and, indeed, society. In this session, Barry provides a foundation for understanding the impact AI and IoT data, and plan its roll-out as augmentation and/or automation of BI and decision making. Extrapolating from the rapid growth of AI and IoT in the consumer world, we see where and how it will drive business and likely impact IT. He also discusses the ethical and economic implications of widespread adoption of these technologies.

Dr. Barry Devlin

is a founder of the data warehousing industry, defining its first architecture in 1985. A foremost authority on business intelligence (BI), big data and beyond, he is respected worldwide as a visionary and thought-leader in the evolving industry. Barry has authored two ground-breaking books: the classic “Data Warehouse–from Architecture to Implementation” and “Business unIntelligence–Insight and Innovation Beyond Analytics and Big Data” in 2013.

Barry has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry, previously with IBM, as a consultant, manager and distinguished engineer. As founder and principal of 9sight in 2008, Barry provides strategic consulting and thought-leadership to buyers and vendors of BI and Big Data solutions. He is an associate editor of TDWI’s Journal of Business Intelligence, and a regular keynote speaker, teacher and writer on all aspects of information creation and use. Barry operates worldwide from Cape Town, South Africa.

Barryn esitysten välissä pidämme yhden tauon – pieni lämmin kahvihetki ja verkostoituminen.
